Lash lifts are another great way to enhance your natural look, and often considered as a low-maintenance alternative to eyelash extensions.
Often paired with a lash tint for a darker look, lash lifts semi-permanently curl your natural eyelashes for a look that’s comparable to mascara.
Are Lash Lifts Damaging to Eyelashes?
Lash lifts are not damaging to eyelashes, as long as the materials used are applied carefully and are high-quality. The chemicals used in lash lifts are called ‘perming agents,’ which are safe when used in the right concentrations. If a too-harsh material is used, you may be left with dry-feeling lashes. That’s why it’s important to consult a certified expert with skill and experience.
How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?
The effects of a lash lift typically last between 6-8 weeks before they begin to fade. This will depend on your unique eyelashes, the quality of materials used, and the skill of the lash artist. Lash lifts are known for their long-lasting effect, which requires less upkeep than eyelash extensions.

How Long Does a Lash Lift Appointment Take?
A lash lift appointment only takes about an hour, another aspect of its low-maintenance reputation. The appointment is quick and low-stress, perfect if you’re busy or if you get antsy during longer appointments.
Is it OK to Put Mascara On a Lash Lift?
Yes! If you want to wear mascara to darken your lashes even further, or to accentuate your lash lift, wait 24-48 hours after your lash lift. If you prefer to avoid makeup altogether, you can get a lash lift and tint for a low-maintenance mascara look.
Can I Wash My Face After a Lash Lift?
It’s important to avoid getting your lashes wet for at least 24 hours after your lash lift. However, you can carefully wash your face while avoiding your eyelashes. During this 24-hour period, you should also do your best to avoid extreme heat, steam, or products like makeup remover.
What to Expect When Getting a Lash Lift?
Getting a lash lift for the first time can be daunting, so let’s go over exactly what will happen when you arrive at the studio.
Step 1: Consultation
Before any kind of lash appointment, your artist will consult with you about your preferences, style, and safety.
Step 2: Cleansing & Preparation
Your lash artist will ensure that the area is clean before proceeding with your lash lift. If you can, arrive at your appointment with a clean face and no makeup. This will make it easier for the artist to get started, and make it easier for you to avoid getting your lashes wet later on.
Step 3: Application
Tape will be applied to your lower lashes to ensure that they don’t get stuck, and then the artist will begin. Special tools called lash lift shields are used to curl your eyelashes, and your artist will carefully brush each lash into a perfect, isolated position.
Your lash artist will use a few different materials and rounds of application to set your lash lift, always adjusting and perfecting the positions of your lashes along the way.
If you’re getting a lash tint, this will be applied as the final step.
Step 4: Removal
Once your lash lift and tint has been applied and given time to process, your lash artist will remove any excess, remove the silicone shield from your eyelid, and remove the lower lash tape.
Step 5: The Final Look
Your appointment has come to an end, and you will be able to see your results! Expect a natural-looking curl that opens up the eyes and a tint that can mimic mascara.
